Jake's First Solid Food - Part 1

On Friday Jake had his six month check-up. He weighed in a little over 18 pounds and 28 very long inches long! He's in the 90th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight. Right on track to be a tall healthy boy!
The pediatrician gave us the go-ahead to start Jake on solid foods so today was his first real meal. Grandma Dottie was on-hand to help with the big event. Jake's been ready for a couple weeks for "real" food but we held off until we were done traveling and could focus on doing this right. I swear he knew the big day had finally arrived!
These photos were taken before we started feeding him and I think you can see the anticipation! LOL

Jake's First Solid Food - Part 2

Jake took to the rice cereal as if it were prime rib. He had no real trouble swallowing or spitting a ton of it back out. He was so funny, reaching out for more and more! I think he's ready for this solid food thing. So...our life changes yet again! Everyday is different and new. (click on the photos for a better view)

Jake's First Solid Food - Part 3

Thanks so much Grandma! That was fun!

Look At That Baby!

Jake has figured out how to suck on his lower lip and he looks so funny! I just had to snap a photo of the crazy kid! A face only a mama could love!

Happy Halloween Jake!

Poor Jake! We dressed him up in this crazy Lobster costume for Halloween. Everyone we passed at the Houston Quilt Festival that night thought he was adorable, but his patience lasted about 30 minutes and that was it! He was a good sport for sure!

Jake in Houston

We traveled to Houston for the last show of the year and little Jake went along with us. He sat in his jumper while I set up the booth. He was such a good sport and didn't get cranky until the very end of the day. I didn't blame him a bit---I was cranky too.

Jake's Bathtub Fun

Jake absolutely loves to "go swimming" each evening before bedtime. No matter how cranky he may be, his nightly bathtime puts him into a good mood again. I figured it was time a got a picture of him in his little tub before he outgrew it completely. He won't fit in it much longer.

Jake's New Quilt!

Jake was the lucky recipient of a "Joan Rosenthal Original" baby quilt! She made it match the decor of Jake's room exactly and it's so very cute! And warm too! It arrived just in the nick of time, as the weather has turned cold in Atlanta and Jake loves to snuggle up in the quilt when I rock him to sleep for his naps. Thanks Joan!

Family Photo

We haven't had a lot of photos of all three of us taken together. I thought I would post this one taken in September.

Happy Jake!

We've got Jake all buckled up for the long trip home from Gainesville. We visited Grandma Marj and Gary for the weekend. He's getting so big and filling up the car seat so much! It wasn't that long ago he was just a little guy in a very big chair...

Jake Plays Piano

While visiting Grandma Marj in September, Jake took his first run at tickling the ivories. He's starting to get so big! His hair is finally laying down so he doesn't look so much like a Chia Pet.

I'm Just So Tired!

This is Jake's first run in his new Exersaucer and he just got tuckered out.

I Think They Like Him!

Everyone needs a little "Jake Time"! All Jake wanted to do was jump-jump-jump. As long as we kept him moving he was a happy little guy!

Jake and Hayley Watch TV

I'd swear Jake knew what he was watching on the television...

Jake Visits Illinois!

Visiting with everyone at Bill & Dave's house. Kyle and Hayley kept Jake very happy!

Sleepy Jake

Jake does his best napping in the swing. He's never been a great napper, but when you do manage to get him to sleep in the swing he's out for a long time.

What A Happy Baby!

In August Jake has really started to chuckle and laugh out loud. He's pretty much always in a good mood and he's really a joy to be around. His funniest feature though is that crazy hair! It's growing out and standing straight up off his head. He looks like a cute little Chia Pet! Everyone comments on his funny hair.

Jake and Snuffy

Here's Jake lounging with Snuffy, Pepper's favorite toy. She loaned it to Jake. What a beautiful baby!

Jake in Orlando

This month Jake and I traveled to Orlando to work the Bernina University show. Grandma Marj went with us and took care of Jake while I worked. They had a lot of fun together and Jake did so well on the trip! Here's a couple shots of him getting a bath at the hotel.

Jake goes to Dallas!

When Jake was six weeks old we had to travel to Dallas to exhibit at the Martha Pullen show. It was a show we couldnt' afford to miss, but Jake was still so tiny we decided to go as a family. Bill took great care of Jake during the day while I worked the show. While Bill was out running some errands he stumbled onto the American Airlines Museum, so away they went---Bill and Jake to the museum! Six weeks old and already into airplanes... Memorial Day weekend Dave and Bill were in Atlanta visiting Bill's family. Jake's first "Illinois" visitors!

Jake's First Visit With His Cousins

Patricia brought the girls on May 19th for a quick visit. Jake slept most of the time, but we managed to get a few photos taken. Chloe and Sadie call him "Baby Jake".

Naptime maybe?

Jake was 23 days old when this was taken. He was still so tiny!

How does this thing work?!?

When you're leaving the hospital they leave you by your car and that's that. You're on your own! Now--how does this car seat snap together? There's only about 100 straps and buckles and clickers...we managed to make it home though.

Last photo at the hospital

Here we are on our way out of the hospital. In the background is the nursery where Jake slept at night. We were lucky and got to be in the brand new wing of the Women's Center. Everything was brand new and so comfortable. I miss Jake being this teeny tiny though!

Jake and Daddy

This is one of my favorite photos. I think the photos says it all! (Just click on the photo to see a larger version)

Brand new Jake!

This is Jake when he was about 24 hours old. We thought he was beautiful from day one. He was born on a Wednesday and was home with us Friday by 5:00pm.
